Probe underway on cops ‘using excessive force’

Banteay Meanchey provincial police chief Ath Khem said that he will take legal measures against police officials at Svay Chek district police station for using excessive force without evidence following an October 8 traffic accident in Svay Chek district – despite the victim, Sophal, only wanting a public apology and compensation.

Khem said he will punish the perpetrators after an investigation, and is waiting for the victim’s demands – compensation or public apology.

Svay Chek district police chief Chea Slonh said his subordinates were at fault, but he argued: “They just shackled Sophal and pushed him into the car. They did not torture him.”
